How much spending money should I save for a two week trip to California?

I am going next summer and I’ve never been, so there is a lot I want to see. We are going to go for about two weeks, its 4 of us. I know I need to save atleast 2500 for airfare and a hotel, but I am not sure how much spending money I need to take, to buy food and keepsakes and stuff like that. I was thinking of saving about 1000 dollars for that but I am not sure if that would get me through 2 weeks. Any suggestions?
