My computer is about to crash big time [It's always overheating and shutting down]. I thought the smart thing to do would be to get all the pictures, videos, music, etc. off of it before it crashed. What are things I can buy [That are not to expensive] that would be perfect to save those files?

cambridge007 asked: I actually just purchased a screen saver, but am thinking that it is probably going to make my computer, or the processor run on over time and shorten its overall life if I were to keep it running.
Does a screen saver make my computer work hard, and run hot? What is the long term ramifications of running it. Is my screen saver a computer/processor killer? Thanks…..
Also, are people aware that screen savers were actually first created to “save” screens, or prevent images from getting burned onto the screen….I think modern LCDs don’t have this issue—right….I wonder what percentage of the population is aware of where the name “screen saver” came from, any thouhgts.
SlashDance….
thanks for the answer…I was at staples and they had all there monitors/screens lined up with a goldfish aquarium screen saver…i went home and had to have it and think it would be cool to have running when I am not using the computer…half the price of my laptop is likely the cost of the monitor, I might as well have something cool going on it…and I am a cheap bastard, but I went with the $19.95 deal….
